Emergency Management Obstetrics Course (EMO)

This is a multi-disciplinary course focussed on the emergency management of important obstetric emergencies. It is designed for emergency clinicians who do not see critically unwell obstetric patients frequently, including Emergency Doctors, Nurses and Prehospital staff, however applications are open to all clinicians involved in obstetric emergencies.

The faculty will include Emergency Physicians, Obstetricians, Anaesthetists and Neonatologists. This one-day course will include interactive workshops and simulation sessions aimed to improve confidence in neonatal resuscitation and obstetric emergencies.

Course Objectives 

• To develop the knowledge and skills required to manage an obstetric patient in an emergency setting

• To work as an emergency department team in a simulated environment to manage a variety of obstetric emergencies

• To utilise the strategies of Crisis Resource Management to help manage the critically unwell obstetric patient

• To build the capacity for reflection and self-discovery

Obstetric Causes of Mortality
